    Over the past years, Stories from Deep in the Heart, our youth radio program has garnered quite the appetite around the city of Austin. The following playlist highlights some of our youth-produced/teacher-produced radio stories all about one of our favorite topics: FOOD!  We have quite the range here-from beef fajitas to icecream to burgers.

    In the fall of 2012, Stories from Deep in the Heart teamed up with 2011’ Summer Institute Alumni Chana Temple to create digital postcards with Ms. Temple’s middle school French class. Students brought in photos of traditions or rituals from their own family albums.

    Texas Folklife preserves, promotes and presents the rich cultural heritage of our Lone Star State.  As such, we look in all corners of our cities and towns, large and small, to find the people with meaningful lives and practices to share with the rest of us.  In order to do that we depend on collaborating with other organizations who have relationships to their communities at the ground level.
