Peter Anzaldua
Brownsville, Texas

Peter Anzaldua won the 2012 edition of The Big Squeeze. Anzaldua is a resident of Brownsville, Texas. At the age 7 he began playing the accordion. He plays in the conjunto tradition his supportive family raised him in. In addition to being inspired by the late conjunto legends like Tony De La Rosa and Ruben Vela, Anzaldua was heavily influenced by the sounds from the late squeezebox pioneer of San Antonio's West Side, Valerio Longoria. Peter is a junior at Veterans Memorial High School in Brownsville, Texas.

He was featured on our 2012 Accordion Kings & Queens Live! CD. As the newly minted 2012 Big Squeeze champion, Alzaldua performed at the
Narciso Martinez Cultural Arts Center's 21st Annual Conjunto Festival in October 2012. In 2013, he made numerous appearances at Pepe Maldonado's legendary La Lomita Park in McAllen, Texas. He also performed at The Narciso Martinez Cultural Arts Center. 2014 will yield new milestones for Peter as he plans to hit the recording studio. Also, he will perform with his band Conjunto Velocidad, making their debut at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center's 33rd Tejano Conjunto Festival en San Antonio in May. Press clip
