Texas Photographer Chuy Benitez Featured in NYT blog LENS

Texas Folklife friend and photographer Chuy Benitez was featured in the New York Times Blog LENS. We have featured Chuys' work in some of our most memorable exhibits like Taquerias of Southmost & Yard Art, as well as hosted his show "Pasatiempos de la Frontera" at our Austin,TX gallery. Most recently he photographed for our NEA funded foodways project in West Texas and is currently featured in the Bronx Documentary Center's "Miradas: Contemporary Mexican Photographers".

Exhibit will run through January 12

Miradas: Contemporary Mexican Photographers opens tomorrow, Sat. Nov.15, 6-9pm. In this exhibition, the gaze is not at a Mexico defined by the US, but at Mexicans exploring and defining themselves as they navigate the Mexican and Mexican-American experience today.
