Austin Friends of Folk Arts (AFFA) will be hosting a "Welcome Back" event on June 29th, at 7:00 at The Rosette. A screening and discussion of Texas Folklife's 2017 documentary short film La Santa Muerte: A Folk Saint in Texas, which features interviews with the late Priscilla Murr, past AFFA President, and several other experts.
Following the screening Texas Folklife Executive Director, Charlie Lockwood, will moderate a panel discussion and audience Q&A featuring speakers:
- R. Andrew Chesnut, PhD, Chair of Catholic Studies Professor, Virginia Commonwealth University
- Elisha Oliver, PhD, Deputy Director, Texas Folklife
- Salvador Garcia, Director of Operations, Austin Classical Guitar
