Exhibit of works by guild members of the Spinners and Weavers Society of Austin. Handwoven art pieces and garments, felted pieces and basket weaving woven from a wide variety of materials all with a Texas accent.
Join us for the exhibit opening on Sunday October 16th (2pm-5pm) at the Texas Folklife Gallery. The opening will feature weaving demonstrations on the loom, and a variety of pieces made by Weavers & Spinners Society of Austin members will be available for purchase. Light refreshments and drinks will also be served.
Started in the 1970s, WSSA is a non-profit dedicated to promoting textile arts: weaving, spinning, dyeing, felting, basketry & more. Members use traditional & new techniques to create wearable art, fine household items, & purely artistic expressions of thread, ribbon, wire, natural fibers, and other filaments.
