On February 22nd, 2014, Texas Folklife and Texas Dancehall Preservation presented a polka symposium and festival at Senglemann Hall in Schulenburg, Texas, sponsored by Humanities Texas. 11:00 AM – Czech and German Food traditions presented by Dawn Orsak and Lori Najvar of PolkaWorks, with Connie Krause and Dorothy Rother

1:00 PM – Polka Music History by Dr. John Novak, Frances Barton and Theresa Parker

3:00 PM – Folk and social polka dancing in Texas by Rachel Murray, Thomas Salas and Valina Polka

4:00 PM – Sustaining polka music in Texas by Mark Halata, Frank Motley, and Dr. Dan Margolies
