COFA Islander Social Hour #1, Presented by CANNT & Texas Folklife

The first of four upcoming events hosted by COFA Alliance National Network of Texas in collaboration with Texas Folklife, the COFA Islander Social Hour is designed to be a fun and family friendly opportunity to virtually reconnect, engaging with important social issues as well as the arts. During this first event:

  • Nina Cobb of Texas’ Bell County Public Health and Sandi Wells of the Palauan community and CANN Oregon will share information about the COVID-19 vaccine & be available for questions.

  • Sepir Yakana of the Pohnpeian community will premiere a new video introducing stick dancing traditions, created with Texas Folklife Apprenticeship Program Coordinator Pete Breithaupt.

This event is FREE and while open to all, is designed for COFA residents in Texas, particularly those who are active duty service members, military veterans, or military-connected family members.

To join us on Saturday, February 13th @ 5:00 pm CST, go to: qrco.de/cannt2-13

Can’t join this one? Make note for three more events to come! Join us in late February and in March for chances to engage in topics from Medicaid restoration to sharing traditions on TikTok.

This event is part of Creative Forces®: NEA Military Healing Arts Network, an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the U.S. Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs and the state and local arts agencies. The initiative seeks to improve the health, wellness, and quality of life for military and veteran populations exposed to trauma, as well as their families and caregivers. Administrative support for the initiative is provided by Americans for the Arts and the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine.
