Texas Folklife Unveils New Brand Identity Celebrating the Cultural Mosaic of Texas

Dallas, Texas – October 3, 2025 – Texas Folklife, the statewide organization dedicated to preserving, celebrating, and showcasing the mosaic of living traditions of the Lone Star State, proudly announces the unveiling of its new brand identity. The refreshed visual identity, centered around a vibrant mosaic star, symbolizes the rich and interwoven cultural traditions that make Texas unique.

For over 40 years, Texas Folklife has been at the forefront of documenting and presenting the folk and traditional arts that form the backbone of Texas communities. The new brand identity reflects not only the organization’s deep roots but also its bold, innovative direction for the future—one that highlights storytelling, cultural sustainability, and a dynamic vision for growth.

“Texas Folklife’s new identity is more than a logo—it’s a reflection of who we are and who we serve,” said Dr. Elisha R. Oliver, Executive Director of Texas Folklife. “Like the people of Texas, our star is made of many pieces—unique, colorful, and Texas strong. Each shape represents traditions carried through generations, brought together to form a unified vision of belonging, resilience, and creativity.”

The star—reimagined as a mosaic—speaks to Texas Folklife’s mission of building community and nurturing relationships across the state. From the Gulf Coast to the Panhandle, from border towns to bustling cities, Texas Folklife celebrates the artistry of everyday people, ensuring their traditions thrive in new contexts and for new generations.

This rebrand marks a pivotal moment in Texas Folklife’s journey, reflecting its role as a bridge-builder, cultural innovator, and steward of tradition. The organization is poised to expand its programming, deepen its statewide connections, and engage broader audiences in the exploration of folk and traditional arts.

As Texas Folklife moves forward with its renewed identity, the public is invited to join the movement at one of our brand reveal events scheduled for November and December. Other ways to join the movement are attending performances, engaging in community storytelling, supporting apprenticeships, or amplifying the voices of tradition bearers who embody the spirit of Texas.
