Roots and Rhythms Workshop Series | Storytelling & Oral Traditions

Community tradition bearers share folktales, personal narratives, and myths focusing on intergenerational exchange and bilingual storytelling. Interactive activity: participants create a “community story quilt” with words and drawings.

About Roots & Rhythms Workshop Series

Texas Folklife and the Latino Cultural Center present Roots and Rhythms, a hands-on workshop series celebrating Texas folk and traditional arts.

Each session highlights culture bearers and artists who share the stories, sounds, movement, and visual traditions passed down through families and communities.

Participants will listen, learn, and create together through demonstrations, guided activities, and welcoming opportunities to join in. All ages are welcome, and no prior experience is needed.

Los portadores de las tradiciones de la comunidad comparten cuentos populares, narraciones personales y mitos centrados en el intercambio intergeneracional y la narración bilingüe. Actividad interactiva: los participantes crean un «edredón de historias de la comunidad» con palabras y dibujos.

Acerca de la serie de talleres Raíces y Ritmos

Texas Folklife y el Centro Cultural Latino presentan Roots and Rhythms, una serie de talleres prácticos que celebran las artes populares y tradicionales de Texas.

Cada sesión destaca a portadores de la cultura y artistas que comparten las historias, los sonidos, los movimientos y las tradiciones visuales transmitidas a través de las familias y las comunidades.

Los participantes escucharán, aprenderán y crearán juntos a través de demostraciones, actividades guiadas y oportunidades acogedoras para participar. Todas las edades son bienvenidas y no se necesita experiencia previa.
