
Elisa Marie De Hoyos was born to a musical family March 1987 in Mcallen, Texas and began to play the piano accordion at the young age of seven. Her many influences were Flaco Jimenez, Mingo Saldivar, Ruben Vela, Albert Zamora, Sunny Sauceda, Jaime DeAnda and Juancho Rois. Elisa started with a piano accordion and later progressed to the button accordion at age 11. She started playing by ear with her mother at church every Sunday and eventually took some lessons with renowned accordionists Juan Lugo, Gilberto Perez and George Ochoa. Elisas influences now are Eva Ybarra and Esteban Jordan.
Their family band traveled playing music throughout the United States. Elisa is now a multi-instrumentalist in two bands, the Texas Sweethearts and Monstruo Bohemio. She has been entertaining the Rio Grande Valley for over thirty years. Elisa was also the winner of the 41st Tejano Conjunto Festival en San Antonio Poster Contest with her painting “Accordeones y Oraciones”. She plans to continue teaching music, performing and painting accordions.
