Mr. Lupe Vasquez is currently a board member for Texas Folklife. He also volunteers as a choir member at Holy Family Church in Edinburg Texas. Mr. Vasquez also is a member of the music committee for the City of Edinburg. He was born in Harlingen Texas and is a proud graduate of Edinburg High School. During his high school years, he played with many Tejano bands which included Eddy Olivares and the Playboys, Joe Bravo and Tejano Express Band. He earned his Bachelor of Art/Music Education from the University of Texas Pan American 1995. Mr. Vasquez, worked at the United States Postal Service and retired in 2014. Mr. Vasquez, love of music gave him an opportunity with Monte Alto ISD to develop the band program at the Middle School and High School. He retired from education and wants to continue helping students develop their musical talents. Currently, he is working in conjunction with Edinburg CISD on a Tejano Pilot Program and Conjunto program.

Mr. Vasquez is married to Nancy E. Vasquez, they have three children: Anna Marie, Albert, and Adrian. He is a proud grandpa of five wonderful grandchildren: Matthew, William, Juliette, Alyson, Andrew and one grandson on the way.

He believes that education is the key in developing our students to become the leaders of the future.
