Join Texas Folklife for our 2026 Virtual Apprenticeship Showcase, a celebration of Texas artists, mentors, and apprentices who are preserving and passing on living traditions across the state. Hosted by Apprenticeship Program Director, Jeannelle Ramírez, this special livestream event features presentations and conversations with mentor-apprentice pairs from our 2026 Apprenticeship in the Folk & Traditional Arts Program.
Each group will share their craft through short videos followed by a live Q&A session, offering audiences the chance to learn more about their practices and the cultural knowledge being carried forward.

Colombian bullerengue music and dance - Genevieve Obregón (Mentor) & Matthew Guerra (Apprentice), San Antonio
Spanish flamenco dance - Juan Longoria (Mentor) & Ulises Ulloa (Apprentice), Los Fresnos (RGV)

- July 25 – George Demers (Mentor) & Karolina Arrocho (Apprentice) – Austin
Puerto Rican bomba. An informative session of bomba singing and technique followed by a bombazo. 2PM to 4PM at 3220 Manor Rd, Austin, TX 78722
- August 9 – Alex Meixner (Mentor) & Levi Burroughs (Apprentice) – New Braunfels
Polka accordion. Spass Haus on Wurstfest grounds in New Braunfels, 2PM.
- November 1-2 – Rocio Landoll Ramírez & Zazil Pacheco – Waco
Mexican cartonería sculpture. Presentation of their xoloitzcuintli sculpture as part of the traveling ofrenda at the annual Día de los Muertos event in Waco. More details to follow.
