Community Folklife Fellowship (CFF)
Application coming soon!

The Community Folklife Fellowship (CFF) helps individuals and communities document and celebrate local traditions through workshops, training, and resources. Fellows receive mentorship and a stipend to create projects that highlight their community’s unique stories and culture.

What Fellows Do:

Podcast Episode: Produce an episode for The Folklorist Next Door podcast, featuring interviews and field recordings.

Blog Post: Share your project with a blog post, including photos, videos, and reflections.

Community Workshop: Lead a workshop to connect your community with its traditions.

The Apprenticeship Program
Application due January 15, 2025

The Apprenticeship in the Folk & Traditional Arts Program is dedicated to preserving, celebrating, and advancing cultural art forms across the state.

This program pairs skilled artist mentors with committed apprentices, providing them with stipends to support hands-on, one-on-one training over six to eight months.

The program concludes with public presentations, where mentor-apprentice pairs showcase their work and share the richness of their cultural traditions with the community.

Whether an art form is uniquely Texan or diasporic, the Apprenticeship Program promotes the continuity of diverse traditional arts as long as they are actively practiced in Texas.
