Since 1989, the Accordion Kings & Queens Concert has been a Houston tradition, drawing capacity crowds to Miller Outdoor Theatre. Presented by Texas Folklife, this annual concert spotlights the accordion’s powerful role across Texas cultural communities and the many styles it brings to the stage: polka, conjunto, zydeco, Cajun, Tejano, swing, and more. This year marks AKQ #37, featuring headliner Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. and The Zydeco Twisters. Rooted in a celebrated Louisiana family tradition, they deliver dance-floor zydeco with driving rhythms and crowd-ready energy.

 

Led by Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. (David Rubin) on rubboard and vocals, with Tiger Dopsie (Alton Rubin Jr.) on drums and vocals, and Anthony Dopsie (Anthony Rubin) on accordion, the band brings a sound built for movement, connection, and a great night under the stars.
