The 37th Annual Accordion Kings & Queens Concert

Home / In Person / Houston / The 37th Annual Accordion Kings & Queens Concert
Three members of Rockin' Dopsie Jr. and the Zydeco Twisters performing. At left, a vocalist in a white cowboy hat and sunglasses sings into a microphone while playing a metal rubboard worn across his chest. In the center, a musician in sunglasses smiles as he plays a red and black accordion. At right, a drummer in a red shirt and dark cap plays the snare. The background is a colorful green, gold, and purple Mardi Gras blur.

The 37th Annual Accordion Kings & Queens Concert

Saturday, October 10, 2026

7:00 PM

Miller Outdoor Theatre

6000 Hermann Park Dr.

Houston, TX 77030

Since 1989, the Accordion Kings & Queens Concert has been a Houston tradition, drawing capacity crowds to Miller Outdoor Theatre. Presented by Texas Folklife, this annual concert spotlights the accordion’s powerful role across Texas cultural communities and the many styles it brings to the stage: polka, conjunto, zydeco, Cajun, Tejano, swing, and more. This year marks AKQ #37, featuring headliner Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. and The Zydeco Twisters. Rooted in a celebrated Louisiana family tradition, Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. and The Zydeco Twisters deliver dance-floor zydeco with driving rhythms and crowd-ready energy.

Led by Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. (David Rubin) on rubboard and vocals, with Tiger Dopsie (Alton Rubin Jr.) on drums and vocals, and Anthony Dopsie (Anthony Rubin) on accordion, the band brings a sound built for movement, connection, and a great night under the stars.

Texas Folklife Members enjoy exclusive access to advanced priority seating for the 37th Annual Accordion Kings & Queens. It is one of the many ways we say thank you for keeping Texas traditions alive.

General Admission tickets become available at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 9, through the Miller Outdoor Theatre website.
